Gilcrest is about 21 miles north of our Brighton home base - a routine drive for us, and one we make regularly. Quote visits and scheduled work both fit our normal week here.
Gilcrest is a community of roughly 1,029 residents, and Gilcrest sits in Weld County. Gilcrest sits along US-85 between Platteville and LaSalle, at about 4,750 feet. There is open ground on most sides and very little natural shade or windbreak: lawns dry out from the edges in, irrigation coverage matters more than irrigation volume, and a patio or driveway takes sun and wind from every direction.
Below is what Gilcrest's own offices and water provider publish about permits, watering and backflow testing for the kind of work we do, checked October 13, 2026, with a link to each source.
Town of Gilcrest (building inspections by SAFEbuilt). Building permit applications are on the Town's Forms page (Town Hall 970-737-2426); the Town's posted plumbing review guidelines (rev. October 28, 2020) name SAFEbuilt as its private building inspection partner.

A Town permit is required to build or alter any sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveway or street opening, or to do any work in public property, easements or right-of-way (Code Sec. 11-21). The Excavation Permit requires a $10 application fee, a $2,000 cash deposit or surety bond, liability insurance ($200,000 per person and $1,000,000 per occurrence) and workers' comp, 48-hour notice to adjacent owners, and sign-off by the Town Engineer, Public Works and Town Administrator.

Gilcrest enforces the 2018 IRC (Code Sec. 18-21, Ord. 2023-03); its amendments to the IRC permit exemptions (R105.2) change only the shed and shingle-repair items, leaving the IRC retaining-wall exemption (walls up to 4 ft, measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, that do not support a surcharge) unchanged.

Watering rules change with drought stages and seasons. These are the rules the water provider published as of October 13, 2026; check the linked page before you seed, sod or change a sprinkler schedule.

Gilcrest's cross-connection program (Code Art. VIII) applies to commercial, industrial and multi-family connections, not single-family connections; devices are tested by a certified technician at installation and at least annually, and the tester sends reports to the Town by mail, fax or email.

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios and repairs (concrete), new lawns and lawn repairs (sod installation), sprinkler repair and winterization (sprinkler repair), plus xeriscape and retaining walls, kitchen, bath and basement remodeling, flooring and interior painting. A job that spans more than one of those is still one crew and one point of contact.
Yes. Gilcrest is about 21 miles north of our home base in Brighton, a routine drive we make regularly. Gilcrest sits in Weld County, and the permit question for your specific job gets answered before work starts, not after.
At about 4,750 feet, the Front Range gives a reasonably long season for concrete and landscape work, though the shoulder months swing hard. Interior work - remodeling, flooring, painting - runs year round, and winter is usually the easiest time to get it scheduled.
We work throughout these neighbouring communities as well: Milliken (4.1 mi), Platteville (5.7 mi), LaSalle (6 mi). The full list is on our service area page.
