What are the outdoor watering rules in Castle Rock?
Castle Rock Water's mandatory residential schedule runs May 1–Sept. 30: water every third day only before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m., on days set by the last digit of the address (0–3 square, 4–6 circle, 7–9 diamond), while nonresidential properties water three days a week from midnight to 8 a.m. (west of I-25 Mon/Wed/Fri, east Tue/Thu/Sat). The schedule is not currently in effect, but a Drought Stage 1 advisory asks all customers to cut use 10% voluntarily, and repeat residential violations bring $25, $50, $100 and then $200 surcharges after a first warning.

Can new sod or seed get extra water in Castle Rock?
A $9 temporary watering exemption, which can be requested the day of installation, lets new sod be watered any day for 21 days and new seed or plants for 30 days, still only before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m.; exemptions are not issued in July. Per the Town FAQ (updated Dec. 27, 2023), Kentucky bluegrass has been banned from new development since 2018, and new homes may not have front-yard turf, with limits on back-yard turf.
