Arvada is about 26.2 miles west of our Brighton home base - a routine drive for us, and one we make regularly. Quote visits and scheduled work both fit our normal week here.
Arvada is one of the largest cities on the Front Range, with about 124,402 residents, and Arvada straddles Jefferson and Adams counties. Arvada sits in the north-west Denver metro, at about 5,350 feet.
Below is what Arvada's own offices and water provider publish about permits, watering and backflow testing for the kind of work we do, checked October 13, 2026, with a link to each source.

Work in Arvada's right-of-way needs a Right of Way Permit from the Engineering Division, applied for online; flatwork replacement permits (curb and gutter, detached walks, crosspans, ADA ramps, chase drains) are issued only to contractors with a current Arvada Municipal General Contractor license. Applications need a Colorado 811 locate confirmation number plus site and traffic control plans, curb cuts require a pre-construction meeting, and concrete replacement carries a two-year warranty.

Arvada requires a building permit for retaining walls over 4 feet measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, and for any wall supporting a surcharge regardless of height; applications need a soils report and engineer-stamped drawings. Walls over 4 feet also need a variance or minor modification approved by Planning before the permit is issued.

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios and repairs (concrete), new lawns and lawn repairs (sod installation), sprinkler repair and winterization (sprinkler repair), plus xeriscape and retaining walls, kitchen, bath and basement remodeling, flooring and interior painting. A job that spans more than one of those is still one crew and one point of contact.
