Lakewood is about 26.9 miles south-west of our Brighton home base - a routine drive for us, and one we make regularly. Quote visits and scheduled work both fit our normal week here.
Lakewood is one of the largest cities on the Front Range, with about 155,984 residents, and Lakewood sits in Jefferson County. Lakewood sits in the west Denver metro and reaches west to the foothills, at about 5,520 feet.
Below is what Lakewood's own offices and water provider publish about permits, watering and backflow testing for the kind of work we do, checked October 13, 2026, with a link to each source.
City of Lakewood permit counter (building permits and inspections). Lakewood handles permitting and inspections through eTRAKiT and the permit counter at 470 S. Allison Pkwy (PermitCounter@LakewoodCO.gov, 303-987-7500).

Lakewood permits and inspects concrete work in the public way, including sidewalks, curb and gutter, curb ramps, driveways and driveway aprons, and only contractors with a Class D Municipal registration may take permits for right-of-way work (the Concrete 5A class does not cover the public way). For right-of-way permit questions, the City says to contact an engineering plans reviewer at 303-987-7500.

Lakewood's list of permit exemptions says private walks and driveways no more than 30 inches above grade, not over a basement or story below and not part of an accessible route, do not need a building permit; patio covers do require one.

In Lakewood, retaining walls up to 30 inches tall (measured from grade to the top of the wall) are exempt unless they support a surcharge or impound flammable liquids; retaining walls taller than 30 inches require a permit.

Watering rules change with drought stages and seasons. These are the rules the water provider published as of October 13, 2026; check the linked page before you seed, sod or change a sprinkler schedule.
Multiple providers (nearly 20), most buying water from Denver Water. Lakewood's provider list includes Consolidated Mutual Water Company, Denver Water, the City's own Lakewood Water and Sewer Utility, and the Green Mountain, Alameda, Bancroft-Clover, Bear Creek, Bonvue and Lakehurst water and sanitation districts, among others; the City's My Neighborhood tool shows the provider for an address.

Most Lakewood water providers follow Denver Water's Stage 1 drought rules: lawn watering two days a week by address, only between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.; the City's Aug. 26 update says lawn watering and all spray irrigation are prohibited after Sept. 30, 2026, while trees and plants may still be watered by hand or drip. Some providers may set stricter rules, so residents should confirm with their own provider.

Backflow testing is run by each water provider: Consolidated Mutual requires assemblies to be tested every year after installation and accepts reports only through its portal (sprybackflow.cmwc.net), and Denver Water requires annual tests by a certified tester with reports emailed to crossconnectioncontrol@denverwater.org.

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios and repairs (concrete), new lawns and lawn repairs (sod installation), sprinkler repair and winterization (sprinkler repair), plus xeriscape and retaining walls, kitchen, bath and basement remodeling, flooring and interior painting. A job that spans more than one of those is still one crew and one point of contact.
Yes. Lakewood is about 26.9 miles south-west of our home base in Brighton, a routine drive we make regularly. Lakewood sits in Jefferson County, and the permit question for your specific job gets answered before work starts, not after.
At about 5,520 feet, the Front Range gives a reasonably long season for concrete and landscape work, though the shoulder months swing hard. Interior work - remodeling, flooring, painting - runs year round, and winter is usually the easiest time to get it scheduled.
We work throughout these neighbouring communities as well: Edgewater (4.6 mi), Wheat Ridge (5.2 mi), Mountain View (6.2 mi). The full list is on our service area page.
