Greeley is about 30.4 miles north of our Brighton home base - a routine drive for us, and one we make regularly. Quote visits and scheduled work both fit our normal week here.
Greeley is one of the largest cities on the Front Range, with about 108,795 residents, and Greeley sits in Weld County. Greeley sits on the Cache la Poudre River, near where it joins the South Platte, at about 4,670 feet.
Below is what Greeley's own offices and water provider publish about permits, watering and backflow testing for the kind of work we do, checked October 13, 2026, with a link to each source.

Greeley Code Sec. 18-2 requires a permit before building, altering or repairing any sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveway or curb cut in the public right-of-way; Public Works Permits issues these as Public Space permits through eTrakit, and the General Construction subtype covers driveways and concrete work. Applicants need a City business license and contractor's license (Code Sec. 18-3 calls for a public right-of-way contractor's license and liability insurance naming the City), and the permittee warrants the work for two years (Sec. 18-5).

Watering rules change with drought stages and seasons. These are the rules the water provider published as of October 13, 2026; check the linked page before you seed, sod or change a sprinkler schedule.
Lawn watering is allowed April 15 to October 31 and never between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; residential customers not on a water budget may water up to three days a week (even addresses Sun/Tue/Thu, odd addresses Mon/Wed/Sat), residential customers on a water budget may water any day, and commercial, multifamily and HOA customers water Tue/Fri/Sun. No lawn watering November 1 to April 14 without a variance; trees may be watered October through March.

A free Lawn Installation Variance is required to install, replace, patch or renovate 250 sq ft or more of lawn (seed, sod or overseeding), and bluegrass-type turf needs 4 cubic yards of compost per 1,000 sq ft tilled 6 to 8 inches deep. The variance allows extra watering for 30 days with a raised water budget; the homeowner or landscape installer applies online with receipts for the seed or sod and compost plus proof of tilling.

Greeley's cross-connection program (Code Sec. 20-191) requires backflow preventers on commercial, industrial and multi-unit residential connections to be tested by an ASSE- or ABPA-certified technician at installation and annually, with records submitted within five days; single-family connections are not among the connection types the section lists. Test reports are uploaded through the City's Spry Backflow portal (Backflow program 970-336-4012).

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios and repairs (concrete), new lawns and lawn repairs (sod installation), sprinkler repair and winterization (sprinkler repair), plus xeriscape and retaining walls, kitchen, bath and basement remodeling, flooring and interior painting. A job that spans more than one of those is still one crew and one point of contact.
