Boulder is about 25.2 miles west of our Brighton home base - a routine drive for us, and one we make regularly. Quote visits and scheduled work both fit our normal week here.
Boulder is one of the largest cities on the Front Range, with about 108,250 residents, and Boulder sits in Boulder County. Boulder sits at the base of the Flatirons, at about 5,320 feet.
Below is what Boulder's own offices and water provider publish about permits, watering and backflow testing for the kind of work we do, checked October 13, 2026, with a link to each source.

Work in the public right-of-way, including curb cuts, street cuts and sidewalks, needs a Right-of-Way permit from Planning & Development Services. Only a right-of-way licensed contractor may apply, and licensing requires insurance, workers' compensation and a surety bond.

Private sidewalks, patios and driveways don't need a building permit if they are no more than 30 inches above grade, not over a basement or story below, and not part of an accessible route. Exempt work must still meet building, zoning and engineering rules, and sites in a floodplain, wetland or historic district may need other approvals.

A retaining wall is exempt only if it is no more than 3 feet tall, measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall. Taller walls, and any wall supporting a surcharge, need a permit.

Watering rules change with drought stages and seasons. These are the rules the water provider published as of October 13, 2026; check the linked page before you seed, sod or change a sprinkler schedule.
Boulder remains in a voluntary Drought Watch with no mandatory restrictions. Lawns should be watered no more than 2 days a week: single-family even addresses on Sunday and Thursday, odd addresses on Wednesday and Saturday, and all others on Tuesday and Friday. A permanent rule bans watering landscaping with city water from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 1 through September 30; drip systems and hand watering with a shut-off nozzle are exempt.

Under Drought Watch, new landscapes may still be installed and watered, and new plant material is exempt from the 10 a.m.-6 p.m. ban for 30 days after installation. Projects that require a landscape plan (new development or redevelopment) on lots with 3 or fewer units may have turf on no more than 25% of the lot or 1,000 sq ft, whichever is less, and Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue and similar cool-season grasses are allowed only in functional turf areas.

Single-unit homes and duplexes are generally exempt from annual backflow testing unless they have a dedicated irrigation or fire line off the main, an auxiliary water source, or another identified hazard. A home with a separate metered irrigation account must install an approved assembly and have it tested every year by an ABPA- or ASSE-certified tester, who submits the results through the city's Backflow Web Portal within 10 days.

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios and repairs (concrete), new lawns and lawn repairs (sod installation), sprinkler repair and winterization (sprinkler repair), plus xeriscape and retaining walls, kitchen, bath and basement remodeling, flooring and interior painting. A job that spans more than one of those is still one crew and one point of contact.
Yes. Boulder is about 25.2 miles west of our home base in Brighton, a routine drive we make regularly. Boulder sits in Boulder County, and the permit question for your specific job gets answered before work starts, not after.
At about 5,320 feet, the Front Range gives a reasonably long season for concrete and landscape work, though the shoulder months swing hard. Interior work - remodeling, flooring, painting - runs year round, and winter is usually the easiest time to get it scheduled.
We work throughout these neighbouring communities as well: Superior (6.1 mi), Louisville (6.3 mi), Lafayette (7.3 mi). The full list is on our service area page.
